APNZ Press Release: Fee maxima Decisions welcomed
“The announcement of decisions on fee maxima
by the Government is welcomed by the Institutes of
Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs)”, said Jim Doyle,
Executive Director of the Association of Polytechnics in New
Zealand today.
The certainty provided the decision will be welcomed and institutions can now proceed with making decisions regarding fees for 2004.
Mr Doyle commented, “Overall the decisions represent a sound, common sense approach to a difficult situation and it is clear that government has listened to the concerns expressed by ITPs during the consultation process”.
The decision to freeze course fees that are currently above the maxima to allow time to work out lasting solutions is particularly welcome.
