Welcome High Court Decision
Professor Stuart McCutcheon, Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington, and Dr John Hood, Vice-Chancellor of The University of Auckland, have welcomed a High Court decision in favour of the removal of international comparisons from the Tertiary Education Commission’s Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF) report.
"It is regrettable that court action was required to achieve this, especially given that both the Tertiary Education Commission and the universities share a common goal to protect the international reputation of New Zealand's universities.
“We will now encourage TEC to ensure the early release of individual staff results and the PBRF report excluding the international comparisons.”
