INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE


The Centre for Research in International Education at AIS St Helens will host an international conference attracting leading educational experts. Internationalisation of Education in New Zealand: Success, Challenges and Opportunities will be held from 12-15 August at AIS St Helens Asquith Campus.

The purpose of the conference is to focus on factors contributing to the academic success of international students.

Educationalists from New Zealand, USA, Australia and Japan have submitted papers on a range of topics around the theme of the conference. There are two keynote speakers from the USA, Rebecca Oxford from the University of Maryland and Andrew Cohen from the University of Minnesota. They are both experts in their field.

Bill English, education spokesperson for the National Party will give the opening address at the conference. This will be followed by presentations on learning styles and experiences of international students, export education, cross-cultural perspectives and English language support issues. Academics, tertiary providers and private language schools are expected to benefit from the event.
