Harrisville School Gets NZ Celebrities to help cook up funds for new adventure playground

A small primary school in Tuakau, Auckland, has big ambitions to raise funds for a new senior school adventure playground – they asked notable NZ celebrities to submit their favourite recipe for the Harrisville School fundraising cookbook.

The “celebrities” who helped include Jaquie Brown, Greg Murphy, Helen Clark, Mike Pero, P-Money, Sarah Ulmer, Casey Williams, The Mad Butcher and the crew of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter. One student even wrote to the Queen of England who unfortunately didn’t submit a recipe but wished Harrisville School the best of luck in their fundraising efforts.

Kim Hansen, Harrisville Primary PTA member and organizer of the cookbook, said she never thought that the cookbook would be become as big as it has.

“The cookbook has gone from a small fundraising idea to a bigger success than we imagined. We just hope this means the kids will have their playground sooner that anticipated” said Mrs Hansen.

If you would like to try Sarah Ulmer’s spicy lamb mince on rice you can order a cookbook by emailing harrisvillecookbook[at]xtra.co.nz. Cookbooks are $15 each plus $1 postage and packaging.
