Independent school enrolments rise by 25%
Independent school enrolments increased by 28.68%
between 2000 and 2007
with a further increase projected
for 2008, said Joy Quigley, Executive Director
of
Independent Schools of New Zealand.
Over the same period,
state school rolls increased by 4.87% and state
integrated
schools by 14.28%.
Overall, independent
schools enrolled 4.1% of all school-aged students in
New
Zealand in2007 which represents a steady annual increase
from 3.4% in 2000.
Parents are increasingly choosing the
best educational fit for their child and they
value the
role played by independent schools in New Zealand, said Joy
Quigley.
