Dunedin Secondary Students Meeting With Council And Retailers Postponed Due To Snow
Students Postponed Meeting With Council, Retailers
For Immediate Release
Dunedin, 16 June: Today's Dunedin City Council meeting at which a group of secondary students were to release their plan to reduce the use of plastic shopping bags in the city has been postponed due to heavy snow.
Organisers of the Dunedin Secondary Students' Climate Forum (DSSCF) decided to postpone the meeting after learning that many councillors, retailers and school students were unable to make it in from their homes, as heavy snowfall made for treacherous road conditions.
"We are disappointed to have to take this measure, but we believe it is important that we have a strong turnout for the unveiling of our plan," said DSSCF co-facilitator Paul Young.
The group hope to reschedule for as soon as possible, and await to hear from the DCC about the next suitable time.
