Block Course: Electrifying Your Prayer Life!

Lifeway College Block Course: Electrifying Your Prayer Life!

Interns and students from Lifeway College recently gathered together at the phenomenal Lifeway campus in beautiful Snell’s Beach to experience the first of four block courses to be held throughout 2010.

“The purpose of each 3-day block courses is to inspire and ignite a passion within people so they can see their world impacted with the reality of Jesus” says Pete Meafou, course supervisor.

The Interns and students attending were nothing short of “blown away by the content that was provided” says Rafael Malthus, Lifeway College Intern.

Pastors, Evangelists and Entrepreneurs

The students heard from an impressive range of speakers over the 3-day course. Speakers included: Michael Frost who carries a Masters in theology, Campbell bond (a passionate evangelist, graduate of Lifeway College and the Pastor of LIFE West), experienced Life group leader Sam Bloore, and world reknown preachers and entrepreneurs Trevor and Jan Yaxley.

These amazing speakers electrified, inspired and motivated a significant growth in the prayer lives of participants.

Sam Bloore and Campbell Bond – Prayer Essentials

Sam Bloore and Campbell Bond introduced the students to the essentials of prayer.

“Prayer is Communication with God. It’s a process by which we develop intimacy with our Heavenly Father “ Introduced Sam Bloore.

Campbell Bond brought riveting insights into what it actually means to surrender to God’s lordship and allow God to outwork his purposes in our lives through prayer. Campbell went into great depth, explaining our need to surrender our authority through prayer, and by the power of our spoken word, allow God to work through us to bring His Kingdom to the earth.

“Prayer is earthly license for Heavenly interference” stated Campbell Bond.

Jan Yaxley – Mindsets

Jan Yaxley spoke on personal strongholds.

“A stronghold is a mindset impregnated with a sense of hopelessness. It leads people to believe that their situation is unchangeable, even though their situation is contrary to the will of God”.

Jan spoke at length about our need to deal with these negative mindsets in our lives, mindsets that if left unchecked can develop into major stumbling blocks in our walk with God.

Michael Frost – Prayer and Regeneration

On the second day of the block course Michael Frost spoke about the fundamental role prayer plays in the regeneration of God’s Kingdom.

“We must submit our personal kingdom to the Kingdom and Lordship of Christ Jesus”

With a sound doctrinal basis, Michael made explicit the power of prayer in the daily life of every believer.

Trevor Yaxley – Intentionality of Devotional Life

Trevor brought powerful teaching on the need for Christians to intentionally put time aside in which to develop a consistent and meaningful devotional life.

“A Christian without a daily devotional life is on a one way collision course with Hell” quoted Trevor from a message by Billy Graham.

He also spoke at length on a need for Christians the world-over to authenticate their faith by rediscovering the uncompromised truth of the Gospel message; this means to present ourselves as a living sacrifice and lay down everything for the Glory of God. Trevor referred His time in China, where he heard stories about people who were selling their blood to raise enough money to purchase train tickets to go and preach at Christian meetings, and a couple who postponed their wedding for two years so that they could save money to feed the poor.

“The passion of Asian Christians compared to those in the west is completely eye opening. They really love God and they will do ANYTHING for Him” described Trevor.

A powerful sense of urgency and desperation could be heard in Trevor’s voice as he spoke of our need as Christians to lay down everything for the cause of Christ.

This challenging message brought about deep and genuine transformation in many students lives.

“I have never heard anything like it before. Within two hrs God had spoken to me, come in and completely transformed my inner world” said Jessica, Lifeway Army student.

Pete Meafou – Practical Prophesy

Pete spoke on hearing from God and working in the power of the prophetic. After an hour of rock solid, biblical teaching on the subject there came a practical exercise of faith. Students were divided into four teams and then proceeded to dig into God and prophesy over one another.

Students that regarded themselves as inexperienced in the prophetic realm were amazed by the accuracy of what was spoken over their lives.

“There were two people in my team who got pictures for me, one continuing on from the other. These pictures drew an exact parallel to what has been happening in my life. I was so encouraged by what God had spoken to me during this prophetic exercise” Nikki reported, Lifeway College ARMY student.

The block course came to a close on a tremendous high note for all involved. Students and interns went away with far more than they ever expected.

“What was experienced was a 3-day journey of mind and heart transformation, and something they will no doubt carry with them for the rest of their lives. Everyone interested in maximizing their impact on this generation is encouraged to join us at Lifeway College for a truly transformative experience” says Craig Hansen, Principal.
