“First in” Under New Education Regulations

“First in” Under the New Ministry of Education Regulations

Local homebased childcare provider, Kids at Home, has been granted the very first FULL licence in the Waikato region under the new Ministry of Education regulations for homebased childcare.

The regulations set standards and expectations for curriculum development, teacher qualifications, group size and ratios, health and safety practices, facilities and premises, and governance, management and administration requirements.

Paula Lovegrove, director of Kids at Home, says “essentially the granting of a full licence means we have proved to the Ministry of Education we not only have the appropriate procedures and practices documented, but that they are being observed on a practical level in our service on a daily basis”.

Paula says, “We are so proud to be the first homebased childcare provider to be granted this full licence. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families, care children, educators, Visiting Teachers and other staff members for helping make Kids at Home such a progressive and quality homebased childcare service.”

Sister-company, Easy Mind Waikato Ltd, will be undergoing an audit with the Ministry of Education in May, and hopes to also become fully licenced soon after.
