Travel Scholarship, Professional Learning Awards

Travel Scholarship and Professional Learning Awards applications open

A CORE Education Foundation Travel Scholarship and a series of Awards for Professional Learning and Reflective Practice 2010 are now open to teachers and leaders in all NZ early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools.

The Awards are offered as part of the CORE Education Foundation programme, and applications may be submitted at any time from the end of May through to the end of August.

The aim of the Travel Scholarship is to encourage and celebrate a teacher's or leader's thought leadership in education. Up to $5,000 will go towards travel, accommodation, event registration & expenses for a teacher to attend an international education event. To enter, teachers need to submit a perspective piece relating to CORE’s Ten Trends.

The Professional Learning & Reflective Practice 2010 Awards will recognise best practice in action. Winners will receive $3,000 (for an individual) or $5,000 (for a school or centre) to put towards some professional learning activity of their choice. To apply for the award, individuals, schools and early childhood centres submit proof of the impact of professional learning activities they have completed.

CORE Education Director Research Dr Vince Ham says the winners of the scholarship and other awards will be announced at this year’s ULearn 10 conference.
