The countdown is beginning to our School’s 150th Jubilee Labour Weekend next year. To kick off our plans for the Jubilee we are going to release 150 helium balloons with a message attached to let people know the dates and details of the formal Jubilee celebrations next year.
Balloons are dear to our heart, because that’s our School logo! We have invited National MP Craig Foss, and Hastings Deputy Mayor Cynthia Bowers to join with students of Havelock North Primary to release 150 balloons into the air from the School field.
We hope you can help us spread the message to past students and staff that a celebration is being planned to honour 150 years of education for girls and boys in Havelock North.
A Jubilee Committee has been set up under the chairmanship of Chairman Colin Shanley, and Deputy Chair Sam Howard. Many events are already in the planning stage, including a dinner and memorial service; but the focus will most definitely be on the School and the students with the School open all weekend for tours and student performances and displays.
We’re launching our website this weekend http://jubilee.hnps.school.nz/ where people can register for the weekend and them up to date with what’s planned for the Jubilee in 2013.
Havelock
North Primary has grown from a tiny, one room school in 1863
into 17 classes with over 400 students. We’re proud of our
success and we’re planning a celebration. We invite past
students, families and staff to join us for the 150th
Jubilee Reunion Weekend, 24-27 October, 2013.
