Time to Nominate Outstanding Teachers and Leaders
Time to Nominate Outstanding Teachers and Leaders
Teachers are top-of-mind for families with the winter school term underway and nominations now open for the ASG Teaching Awards and Cognition Education Leadership Awards.
Every two years parents, Boards of Trustees, parent associations, secondary student councils and community organisations can nominate the outstanding teachers and leaders in their school community who inspire learning.
Terry O’Connell, chairman of the NEiTA Foundation which facilitates the awards programme, says these awards are an opportunity for the consumers of education to acknowledge those teachers and leaders whose inspirational approach stimulates student learning and success.
“Your nomination demonstrates recognition of outstanding teachers and leaders at early childhood education centres, primary, intermediate and secondary schools nationwide who provide children with the desire, confidence and enthusiasm to learn and do well,” says Mr O’Connell.
Nominations are open until 30 September 2013. Nominate online at www.neita.co.nz or download a nomination form. Forms are also available at schools and early childhood education centres nationwide, or through the NEiTA Foundation on 09 308 0576 or email mventer@asg.co.nz
Nominated teachers and leaders receive a NEiTA Certificate of Nomination once verified, with 20 area representatives selected to go forward to receive Regional Awards in Wellington in May 2014. From these, ten will receive National Awards and professional development grants of up to $5000 at their schools or centres later in the year.
ASG Education Programs New Zealand helps create educational opportunities for children and Cognition Education Trust aims to raise the educational expectations and contribute to raising the life chances of all New Zealand students.
