Protest against Charter Schools Hypocritical
Protest against Charter Schools Hypocritical
Te Maru o Nga Kura a Iwo o Aotearoa 30 May 2018
'It 's a bit rich and downright hypocritical in fact of these concerned and wounded educationalists to band together to try and put the kybosh on the establishment of Charter Schools when there is one helluva mess right under their own nose about which they have been silent for several lifetimes ' says Head of Te Maru o Nga Kura a Iwi o Aotearoa, Dr Toby Curtis.
Dr
Curtis' reaction came following news of a national campaign
by educationalists to lobby against the Bill currently
before parliament on the esablishment of Charter
Schools!
'
How dare they deign to even cry foul when
the disgrace that is Maori underachievement continues to
fester. a blight on our education system."
The Maori reaction to that system ,the struggle to liberate ourselves as Maori so that our children may have the right to enjoy educational success as Maori is well documented. Achieving rangatiratanga to establish and run our own authentic models of education is what it is all about for us.We have championed our own cause .These educationalists have continued to condone theirs!
Charter Schools present an opportunity for our people to once again assert their rangatiratanga about what matters most, best achievement results for our tamariki. The package is comprehensive and clear! We will have Rangatiratanga for achieving those results, rangatiratanga for our Modus Operandi in terms of the HOW and critically where their system falls down, rangatiratanga for performance against those results!
Maori have been trying for years for a more responsive and inclusive mainstream system all to no avail! And this is where the big bucks are and where the evidence of failure has been scraming out for remedial action for an eternity!
A good long hard look in the mirror is well and truly overdue! So how about re aligning the assault weapons on the right target!
