Massey University
and Albany Senior College receive commendations in
international awards for Educational Facility Design
The Australasian Council of Educational Facilities Planners International (CEFPI) presented its educational facility design awards at its annual conference dinner in Auckland last night.
Awards were presented to educational facilities from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Massey University Student Amenities Centre Albany and Albany Senior College both received commendations in their categories.
The commendation for Albany Senior College included the following:
“The result is an outstanding school that has recently completed its staged development and is delivering significant improvements in student outcomes especially in transitioning students to employment and higher education.” (JASMAX Architects)
Massey University was commended for “an elegant, future-proofed facility that blurs the boundary between formal and social learning and contributes to a lively campus life for students. “ (Warren and Mahoney Architects)
The overall winner was the Northern School for Autism, Victoria, commended as deserving of this award because it is a successful and distinctive solution to the challenge of providing an environment for individualised learning from reception to year 12 for students with autism. (Hede Architects)
