Free Arapū (Māori alphabet) App launched Thursday 2 July
In anticipation of Māori Language Week, and just in time for school holidays, Kapohia Ltd has released an app, “Arapū".
Maraea Hunia says the digital app was produced for Māori-medium schools, but is free for everyone to download.
"Children will love the fast pace of the app. Adults might be challenged but once you learn the “Arapū” song at the start, each activity will be within your reach."
The aim is to beat the clock while arranging Māori words and letters. Children have to apply alphabetical order faster and faster as the speed increases.
"They won’t realise they’re learning early dictionary skills at the same time."
The app can be
downloaded now from:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fierointeractive.tearapu
It will be available from iTunes by July 14.
