Stellar Weekend for Rangi Ruru Basketball
This weekend both the Rangi U20 and the U16 basketball teams won their respective finals of the Canterbury Club Basketball competition.
The U20 Rangi Ruru Basketball team, coached by longtime Rangi coach Rose Walker, and young coach Dave Ermerins won 77-58 playing against Burnside High School.
The U16 team were also coached by Rose with additional input from parents, who are ex USA college players, Amy Gardener and Sarah Corkery. Their result was a 73-64 win against club team Checkers.
Rangi Ruru's Meg Thompson was named MVP in the U20 game and Rangi Ruru's Bailey Chamberlain was MVP in the U16 game.
Rangi Director of Sport Jo Fogarty says "Our Basketball programme is overseen by the Canterbury Development Basketball programme head coach Caleb Harrison. Rangi Basketball is extremely fortunate to have the coaching support to build and develop the programme from within the school as well as externally."
