Otago Polytechnic launches team of Student Ambassadors
Otago Polytechnic has employed 20
of its students as Student Ambassadors to engage with and
support new and prospective students.
Selected from 40 applicants, the Student Ambassadors will meet, greet and share their experiences of Otago Polytechnic at events like Orientations, open days, campus tours and high school visits.
They’ll be instantly recognisable on and off campus thanks to distinctive, branded, bright green T-shirts.
“The Ambassadors will receive full training and ongoing support from the Polytechnic’s Liaison Team,” says Liaison Advisor, Emilie Crossley.
“They’ll develop communication and leadership skills, while gaining valuable, paid work experience they can add to their CVs.”
The initiative is a pilot programme that it’s hoped may be adopted permanently in future.
The Student Ambassadors’ first official engagement will be at Dunedin Tertiary Open Day on Monday 9 May.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Media are invited to attend a training session on Friday 6 May at 12.30pm in Room G303, which can be accessed from Otago Polytechnic’s main entrance on Forth Street.
