New head of Trainee Support joins Skills Active Aotearoa

Skills Active Aotearoa, the industry training organisation for sport and recreation, has appointed Todd Maddock as its new General Manager of Trainee Support.

Todd has more than 20 years’ experience in commercial settings including New Zealand Post and BP New Zealand.

He is also an avid triathlete, an Ironman competitor and a multisport coach, and he had a strong desire to move into a role that touched on sport and recreation, health, wellbeing and personal development. So Skills Active was a great fit on both sides.

As the head of the Trainee Support team, Todd’s role is to look after our learning support advisors, who cover the length and breadth of New Zealand, helping our workplaces to get their staff qualified.

Todd says he is looking forward to being part of the mix at Skills Active and contributing to the success of the workforce in sport, community recreation, performing arts, exercise, outdoor recreation and snowsport.

“Our learning support advisors are the vital link between the workplace, the assessor and the learner. They play a critical role in the success of our trainees on their journey to completing their qualifications,” Todd says.

“On-job training helps our trainees juggle the demands of life, learning and work, it creates clear career pathways for people in our industries, and it’s a really exciting space to be in.”
