Customs Officers To East Timor - Depart Friday

CUSTOMS OFFICERS TO EAST TIMOR - DEPART FRIDAY
Five New Zealand Customs Officers will leave for United Nations duty in East Timor on Friday 21 January 2000. The United Nations Transitional Authority for East Timor, (UNTAET) has requested New Zealand's assistance to establish a Customs service at both the port and airport in Dili.
Their deployment is being undertaken with support from New Zealand's Official Development Assistance Programme in East Timor.
There will be photo and interview opportunities prior to the Customs Team's departure from Auckland International Airport. Customs Minister Hon. Phillida Bunkle, and the Comptroller of Customs Robin Dare will be at the airport to officially farewell them.
