Gisborne's Elephant Seal, HOMER, has his own web site at www.homer.co.nz.
Local marketing company Sports & Events Marketing have donated the time and funds to provide Homer with his own web site with his own domain name to record all of the activities and events that have occurred during his stay here in Gisborne.
On the website you can see photo's taken by locals and the news media, send Homer cards to friends and even play Homer games.
Homer has become an international celebrity with news footage being shown on television on every continent throughout the world.
Homers Web Site will keep you up to date as to Homers whereabouts and activities for as long as chooses to stay in Gisborne.
Local Radio Station 89FM and Sports &Events Marketing are staging a Homer Photograph Contest to obtain photographs of Homer never seen in the media, including a shot of Homer being over friendly to a local vehicle parked on the waterfront.
There are moves afoot to have Homer run for Mayor of Gisborne due to the enormous amount of positive news he has generated for the city. Locals are distributing "Homer For Mayor" stickers to gauge interest.
