Parenting Courses In Every Community Advocates The Commissioner For Children
"Going by instinct and intuition isn't necessarily sufficient for good parenting," says Roger McClay, Commissioner for Children. Mr. McClay was addressing the "Beyond Violence Conference in New Plymouth today.
He said that in New Zealand "We need to do much more to educate every mother and father and future mother and father about the magnificent first three years of brain development of our children".
He said that "Love, safety, warmth and commitment can easily be learned by children instead of the all too frequent hatred, animosity and anger some children learn from their parents".
Mr McClay outlined a number of new initiatives that he said would enhance the lot of New Zealand children.
