Barnardos Welcomes Enforcement Of Cot Safety
Barnardos Welcomes Enforcement Of Cot Safety Standards
“Barnardos welcomes any initiative which enhances the safety of New Zealand children,” said Brenda Ratcliff, Strategic Policy Director for Barnardos. “ Ms Ratcliff was commenting on the move by the Commerce Commission to further enforce cot safety standard regulations by checking cots for sale in shops.
“The safety of children must be of paramount concern. As a matter of policy our cots and other nursery equipment have to meet available product safety standards whether they are used in our early learning centres or in our home-based care projects.
“Barnardos is New Zealand’s largest child-focussed charity. It’s guiding principle is “Children Come First”. Today’s action by the Commerce Commission is certainly in line with our guiding principle.”
