Ballantynes drum up business for appeal

Ballantynes in Christchurch is holding their annual street stall on Friday, and are making a donation from the proceeds to the Barnardos Annual Appeal.

“I would like to thank Ballantynes for its continued support for Barnardos,” Says Ian Calder. “It’s great to see businesses supporting the needs of children within their communities.”

Jill Lyne, business development coordinator for Ballantynes said that they have supported the children's organisation for the last seven years because it does so much for the community.

They are expecting a busy day for the stall tomorrow, but have enlisted the help of the Canterbury Flames, the captain of which is Barnardos’ own Belinda Colling, to help with the sale.

“It’s great that such a high profile business is offering their support to us, at a time when children throughout the country need it the most,” says Ian.

“In the year to June 2000 some form of abuse or neglect were substantiated for 9,385 children and young people. That’s around the same as the number of people living in Greymouth.”

The Barnardos Annual Appeal runs until the 10th March, please give generously when the collector visits.
