Ngati Porou And Plunket To Work Together

Ngati Porou And Plunket To Work Together

Ngati Porou Hauora Primary Health Organisation (PHO) and the Plunket Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at a ceremony in Gisborne on Tuesday June 24.

The Memorandum of Understanding signaled the beginning of a closer relationship between Plunket and the Ngati Porou PHO.

This memorandum shows the partners' commitment to support the Government's Primary Care Strategy which is, in part, aimed at improving services to higher need families.

Dianne Gibson, chief executive of Ngati Porou Hauora said, "this was a significant step for a small, local PHO to build a service delivery relationship with a national provider".

Paul Baigent, Plunket's chief executive, said that signing the Memorandum of Understanding means Plunket will be arranging its services to specifically support the enrolled clients of the PHO.

"Local Plunket staff have always worked alongside other agencies in Gisborne but the step we have taken today builds a more formal link with the local General Practice Team and other partners in the PHO," said Paul Baigent.

The memorandum means that Plunket will join with Ngati Porou and its partner providers: Nga Maia o Te Tai Rawhiti; Pacific Island Community Trust; Te Aitanga a Hauiti Oranga Whanau; and Tracy Walker, a physiotherapist, to plan for more seamless services for the enrolled population.
