SDHB Did Not Walk Out On Mediation
“Southland District Health Board (SDHB) did not walk out of mediation” Lexie O’Shea, Chief Operating Officer, SDHB said today, following a PSA Press Release.
Mrs O’Shea said that SDHB had made a substantial offer, one of many during the day, which was rejected by the PSA and NZNO.
“Their counter position was unacceptable to SDHB, which at 8.00pm concluded the day’s mediation”.
“SDHB has not withdrawn its final offer. This was confirmed at 2.00pm today with Mark Ryan, PSA organiser and advocate, in a face-to-face meeting. Earlier in the day the same position was reaffirmed with Mr Walter Grills, Mediator, who had also commended the SDHB team on their efforts to resolve the impasse” Mrs O’Shea said.
“SDHB are
disappointed and frustrated at the Unions’ approach to put
their position to the media rather than to us, and that they
have not seen fit to put our offer to their
members”.
