Plunket Welcomes New Family Commissioners
Plunket welcomes announcement of Family Commissioners
Plunket welcomes the government's announcement today of the appointment of six Family Commissioners, headed by Dr Rajen Prasad.
"The Families Commission has the potential to add considerable value to the work being done in the interests of families. The appointment of such capable commissioners will certainly help bring focus and to an area of our society that deserves priority attention.
"We believe that as the Families Commission promotes informed debate on issues affecting families they will also help to advance the needs of children," said Kaye Crowther, Plunket New Zealand President.
Plunket's Chief Executive Officer, Paul Baigent added, "The research and advocacy work of the Families Commission will help increase understanding of the challenges families face. With this understanding we hope additional support will be available and a more constructive environment will develop in the interests of creating stronger families. This can only be good for the nation's children.
"Plunket welcomes the
appointments announced today and we look forward to working
with the Families Commission to advance the interests of New
Zealand children and their families," concluded Mr Baigent.
