Psychologists Withdraw Strike Notices

“60 Clinical Psychologists employed by the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District Health Boards have decided to withdraw the next four days of strike action,” said Nadine Marshall, Secretary of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.

“This withdrawal followed the intervention of the Government and the CEOs of the Boards (Chai Chuah HVDHB and Margot Mains CCDHB) at mid-day today during a rally at parliament by the striking Psychologists.”

“Delegates have decided to withdraw the strike notices for 30 August to 2 September. They see the Government putting in extra funding so the Boards can make a catch-up offer to the Clinical Psychologists as a breakthrough in their 12 month negotiations,” said Nadine Marshall.

“The Clinical Psychologists wished to acknowledge the moves by the Government and Boards and will return to negotiations next Monday 5 September to hear and consider their offer,” said Nadine Marshall.
