Life! - with Physiotherapy celebrated
The potential to enjoy life is what physiotherapists promote. On World Physiotherapy Day (8 September), physiotherapists throughout New Zealand are celebrating the diverse ways they enable people to participate in life.
Physiotherapists provide help and advice to advance recovery from illness or accident, deal with disability, support independence, encourage fitness and improve wellness, and ensure safe workplaces.
The New Zealand Society of Physiotherapists has produced a series of posters depicting a variety of settings where physiotherapists assist people to achieve the most from life. Members of the Society are displaying these posters at the events planned for World Physiotherapy Day.
Unfortunately these valuable health professionals are not well rewarded financially. Angry and frustrated with chronically inadequate fees paid by ACC for physiotherapy services, more than 1500 physiotherapists, their patients, and physiotherapy students bombarded politicians in August with letters requesting a commitment to review of ACC fees.
