New Zealand health system prejudiced
Around 80 health workers - including many national experts - will gather at Waipapa Marae at the University of Auckland on Monday, to discuss the state of New Zealand's health.
"There are enormous differences in the health of New Zealanders," Dr Alison Blaiklock, Executive Director of the Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand said today.
"Maori, Pacific peoples, refugees and people with disabilities suffer more disease than other New Zealanders. This is a violation of their human rights and a comment on the state of New Zealand democracy.
The Symposium Hauora: Health and Wellbeing - Everyone's Right is hosted by the Health Promotion Forum and will feature a range of national experts like Human Rights Commissioner Warren Lindberg and Children's Commissioner Dr Cindy Kiro. Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright will open the day.
