NZ Kidney Foundation appointment of Director
New Zealand Kidney Foundation appointment of Medical Director
The New Zealand Kidney Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Kelvin Lynn as their inaugural Medical Director.
Associate Professor Lynn has worked as a kidney specialist for the past 25 years and has recently stepped down from the post of Chief of Medicine at Christchurch Hospital. Dr Lynn has extensive experience in clinical research and home dialysis. He has been a member of the Canterbury Ethics Committee and the Health Research Council’s Ethics Committee.
Dr Lynn chaired the National Renal Advisory Board’s Standards and Audit Subcommittee that has recently developed audit standards for New Zealand dialysis practice and produced its first report in late 2005.
Dr Lynn has been a councillor of the New Zealand Kidney Foundation and involved for many years with the Christchurch Kidney Society.
The Foundation expects that the appointment of a Medical Director will enable it to enhance awareness that kidney disease is a major chronic health issue in New Zealand. The Medical Director, based in Christchurch, will be the Foundation’s spokesperson on medical matters and supervise the Foundation’s research grants program.
Professor John Morton, Chairman New Zealand Kidney Foundation
