Men’s Health - No
More Secrets
A month-long programme encouraging men to take positive steps to improve their health will take place at Freemasons Lodges and community centres nationwide from 22 October.
Newly elected Grand Master, Barry McLaggan, says the awareness programme is open to everyone and will be advertised locally.
“Let’s face it, blokes are not keen on rushing off to the doctor, they tend to put up with complaints and concerns rather than seek advice - you could say they are a bit secretive about their health.
“Research shows that all health matters come down to making healthy decisions and having regular checkups. That’s the key message our speakers will be making,” says Barry McLaggan.
Among the speakers will be: general practitioners; cancer survivors; diabetes specialists; and representatives from, the Prostate Cancer and Heart Foundations.
Topics to be covered include: blood pressure; stress; diabetes; heart conditions; prostate, kidney, bowel and testicular cancer; alcohol use and abuse; obesity and erectile dysfunction.
