Healthphone receives $500,000 Growth Services Grant

New Zealand health software company Healthphone Limited has been awarded $500,000 in Growth Services funding from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to assist with its international expansion strategy.

Healthphone is an Auckland based health software company selected by Microsoft as its global lead solution partner for community care and long term condition management.

“As a lead solution partner for Microsoft, we are committed to being operational in seven countries by the beginning of July 2007 and a further eight by the end of 2008,” says Healthphone Chief Executive Officer Matt Hector-Taylor.

“This is an ambitious strategy for a relatively young New Zealand company and we are grateful for the huge support being provided by NZTE.  The Growth Services grant will assist us with a range of projects all necessary to ensure our business is successful in the global arena.”

Healthphone's flagship product, Concordia, is an electronic health record, patient care and business management solution accessible via the Internet or mobile networks using a standard Microsoft interface on a laptop, tablet or PDA, making it always available at the point of care.  Concordia gives community caregivers and patients ownership of health records to facilitate better care.

Healthphone is also developing a range of consumer products to help people manage their own healthcare.

All of Healthphone’s applications are hosted and supported by national telecommunications providers such as TELUS in Canada and Vodafone/AppServ in New Zealand.

“Healthcare providers in New Zealand and Canada are implementing our Concordia solution.  Canada was identified as a key potential market due to its size, proximity to the USA and reputation for innovation and leadership in the health information technology field.

“We also have customers keen to be pilot sites in countries such as Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom where we are still finalising our telecommunications service provider partnerships,” says Mr Hector-Taylor.

In addition to its head office in Auckland, Healthphone has regional offices in Australia, Canada and Singapore and will have offices in the United States, United Kingdom and Hong Kong by end of June 2007.
