Demand for fertility services prompts new clinic

Demand for fertility services prompts new clinic for Fertility Associates

A new state-of-the-art fertility clinic is set to open in Hamilton due to increasing demand for fertility services in the Midland region.

Fertility Associates Hamilton, which treats a combination of public and privately-funded patients, will officially open on March 23rd.

“Demand in this region has increased significantly because of the regional public contract we took on in 2001 which has so far operated out of Waikato Hospital,” says Richard Fisher, Chair of Fertility Associates Limited.

“Eligibility changes, which mean more men and women are able to undergo a second cycle of fertility treatment; and the addition of funding for pre-implantation genetics, meant we grew out of our hospital rooms and needed a new space.”

The new clinic will allow Fertility Associates to deliver a high-quality service to patients in the Midland region, 70% of whom receive publicly-funded treatment.

Dr Richard Fisher says fertility treatment in the Midland region has historically been under-funded, but the new local facilities and boosted government spending means the region is now comparable with fertility services around the country.

“One in five couples experience some form of infertility and we are delighted that we now have a greater ability to meet the needs of these couples.”

“The new clinic will improve access for our patients, with consulting suites, clinical procedures, ultrasound and laboratory services all located under one roof. This also maximises patient privacy.”

“The larger and more purpose-designed space means we will be well equipped to manage the growth in services in the future,” says Dr Fisher.
