Nationwide Appeal To Boost Children’s Health

News release 6 August 2007

Nationwide Appeal To Boost Children’s Health

Progressive Enterprises is once again showing its commitment to supporting children’s health with the launch of a unique, nationwide appeal to raise funds for five hospitals. The Fresh Future appeal aims to raise NZ$1million over a three year period for paediatric care in Kidz First Children’s Hospital, Auckland, and dedicated children’s wards in Dunedin Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, Waikato Hospital and Wellington Hospital.

Launching today, Monday, 6th August, the appeal will run for 8 weeks across Foodtown, Countdown, Woolworths, SuperValue and FreshChoice stores nationwide.

Progressive staff across the country are organising a variety of fundraising initiatives. A member of staff who was an instructor on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ will be giving dancing lessons to raise funds, there will be sausage sizzles, golf tournaments, sponsored bike rides, bake-offs and even a few beard and head shaves.

Dave Collo, Store Manager at Foodtown Mount Eden, Auckland, commented “I am particularly proud of my beard which has taken a while to grow, however it’s for a good cause so I have volunteered to have my beard and head shaved. It’s going to be a bit chilly but it will be worth it and I can always wear a hat!”

Progressive Enterprises Managing Director, Peter Smith comments, “We believe that one of the best ways of contributing to the growth and development of New Zealand is by supporting New Zealand children’s health. We are also firm believers that children should have access to medical treatment wherever possible. We hope that our customers will get behind us to help raise as much money as possible for these hospitals and their young patients”.
