DHB Candidate Launches Campaign
Urgent action to fix delays at Wellington Hospital's Emergency Department tops the list of priorities for District Health Board candidate David Chamberlain.
Mr Chamberlain launched his campaign this weekend erecting billboards targeting delays at Wellington Hospital's A&E department.
“Everyone knows people who have waited in ED for hours trying get a hospital bed in Wellington. Delays in the Emergency Department are likely symptoms of wider problems within the hospital.”
“Staff are equally frustrated by the delays the public are facing.”
“There are examples of how overseas hospitals have fixed these problems. Flinders Hospital in Adelaide is one” said Mr Chamberlain.
An independent consulting actuary, Mr Chamberlain is promoting a five point plan with electors:
1. Fix A&E delays
2. Effective waiting
lists
3. Listen to doctors and nurses
4. More GPs for
Kapiti
5. Smarter use of
Kenepuru
