I Lost 40kgs In Nine Months
– I Did It For My Son

Karen
Cartwright, new mother has lost 40kgs in nine months and
went on to compete in the MORE FM TriWoman Series thanks to
the strength and motivation she drew from her son.
Karen is a single mother of a beautiful 2-year-old boy. Her son, she says, is the first biggest achievement of her life. But the second biggest achievement was entering her first ever triathlon on Sunday, The MORE FM TriWoman Series proudly sponsored by Panadol.
Nine months ago Karen weighed 146kgs, but it was her son, Isaiah who inspired her to change her life.
“Over the last nine months I have been focused on changing my eating habits and becoming healthier for the sake of myself and my son,” Karen says. “I really want to watch my son grow up and be able to run around the park with him playing rugby”.
Karen has gone from couch potato to exercise junkie, losing a whopping 40kgs in the last nine months! “It has completely changed my life for the better and I feel great!” But Karen says she couldn’t have done it without the support of her parents who cared for Isaiah whilst she was out training.
Taking part in the triathlon has not only given Karen a feeling of achievement, but it has made her a stronger person because she knows that she can do it. If she can do it, then anyone can! All you have to do is TRI!
