Brent Wiseman gets top Auckland finance job

Waikato District Health Board chief financial officer Brent Wiseman resigned today to accept the chief financial officer position at Auckland District Health Board.
Mr Wiseman joined Waikato DHB's decision support team in 1996 and became chief financial officer in 1999.
For 10 months after Dr Jan White left in 2005 and before Malcolm Stamp started the following year, Mr Wiseman was acting chief executive working to a brief of maintaining the status quo.
"Although it is sad to be saying farewell to the great people at Waikato, I'm pleased to know I'm leaving an organisation with a very solid financial foundation to build upon.
"It's also a great finance team and one I will miss very much," he said. "But I'm continuing my passion for the health sector."
Auckland DHB's annual turnover is $1.5 billion while Waikato's is $900 million. Mr Wiseman leaves Waikato DHB in mid February.
Chief executive Craig Climo said he was sorry to see Brent go. " He's a trusted advisor, somebody whose view I always want in determining financial matters, and often on matters generally. Brent has a broad knowledge of health. I've long considered him to be at the fore of chief financial officers in the sector and this is reinforced by him leaving us to go to the biggest and I imagine most difficult financial job in the sector. We're also losing a nice guy."
Recruitment for a replacement starts this week.
