SUBJECT: NZMA welcomes clinical
leadership document
The New Zealand Medical Association today welcomed the release by Health Minister Tony Ryall of the clinical leadership document 'In Good Hands'. NZMA Chairman Dr Peter Foley said “In releasing this report Mr Ryall is following through on the government’s policy of fostering clinical leadership within the health system”.
“Doctors and other health professionals are in the front line of providing health services and need to be fully engaged in decision making processes throughout the sector. This report, which was prepared by clinicians provides a sound basis for the development of clinical leadership processes and will hold DHBs accountable for implementation” said Dr Foley. “This is an important step in further improving New Zealand’s health services and we will be closely following the response in each of our 21 DHBs”.
