Natural Health Centre Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The Natural Health Centre Celebrates its 25th
Anniversary
The Natural Health Centre has
been providing the people of Wellington and the surrounding
region with natural health services for twenty-five years.
It has weathered many changes over this time. Its beauty is
that it has always been able to adapt and transform in a
changing world. On Saturday May 16, the Natural
Health Centre will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary by
opening its doors to the public.
As part of the celebrations, practitioners will offer the public free treatments, presentations and workshops on the various kinds of natural health treatment available at the Centre – and, of course, naturally healthy food!
The Natural Health Centre is providing treatments for those who would like to trial some of the therapies on offer, with the proceeds going to Kidscan (a charity for NZ children in need). The cost of private treatments is $20 for 20 minutes.
The doors of the Centre will be open from 11 a.m.until 4 p.m. on Saturday May 16. This will be a great occasion for present and previous clients of the Centre to come along and help us celebrate our birthday, and for those who have never been, but are curious, to come along and find out what we are all about.
Peter Waugh founded the Natural Health Centre in the early 1980s above the wholefood restaurant he co-owned, That’s Natural, in Manners Mall. Peter was developing a sole practice after returning from study in India in 1980. The centre evolved out of his desire to work in a group practice which provided a nurturing environment for both clients and therapists. The centre expanded as more rooms became available before moving to its current site in Courtenay Place in the early 1990s.
Quotes:
A client of the Natural Health Centre for 18 years, Fionna, says: “The first thing I notice is the calm and enlivening feeling when I come through the door. . . Even the pot-plants respond and bloom more beautifully in the window. . .”
A client who wishes to remain anonymous first came to Natural Health Centre four years ago in search of healing from some chronic health problems. “I have worked with this community of diverse and talented practitioners to address these problems from different angles, and the experience has been profoundly transformative, both physically and emotionally. I am very grateful that Wellington has this extraordinary resource.”
Peter Waugh, founder of Natural Health Centre says: “It has always been a dynamic place to work and grow. Growth and change are unavoidable for those who work here and for those who come as clients.”
