Launch of on-line mental health directory

The Kites Directory of Mental Health and Addiction Services for the Wellington Region is now available on-line. This directory provides information about a wide range of services that maybe useful to people who experience mental health and addiction problems.

The directory can be accessed from the Kites Trust website www.kites.org.nz. Services can be searched by category or key word and there is a shopping cart feature which allows for printing information the user wants.

Kites will be able to easily update information and make changes. For any changes or additions simply e-mail admin@kites.org.nz or phone Kites on (04) 384 3303.

Kites Trust Manager Marge Jackson is delighted with the possibilities that the on-line directory provides. “The community and in particular people who use mental health services have continued to tell us how much they appreciate the Kites Directory. Through the Kites Directory people can easily find out about a wide range of organisations and services.” Marge explains “Kites can no longer afford to print and distribute copies of the directory and now the online directory is available to anyone who can access a computer and it will be easier to keep up to date”

A celebration afternoon tea will be held on Friday the 6th of November for sponsors and media. Kites is not funded directly to produce the mental health directory and without the organisations listed below the development of a online directory would not have been possible.

The organisations that have provided financial assistance include Capital PHO, The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, Pathways, Q-nique, Regional Public Health, South East and City PHO, Te Roopu Pookai Taaniwhaniwha, Take 5 and Te Whare Marama, The Wellington Mental Health Consumers Union, Wellink Trust, Oasis Network, Kapiti Choices and Care NZ.

Kites also thanks Fraame Solutions who built the on-line site.

Hard copies of the Directory can be purchased at a cost of $25.00 each from Kites Trust.
