Allied to Provide Hospital Security Services
Allied Security is the successful tenderer for security services at Waikato District Health Board.
The company was one of 15 nationwide that filed an expression of interest for the $1 million contract when advertisements appeared in major newspapers in December last year.
Three
companies, including the incumbent Waikato Security
Services, participated in a request for proposal (RFP)
process working on a new model for security at Waikato
Hospital that:
• Gave Waikato DHB control over
recruiting, training and employment conditions for security
staff
• Ensured each duty shift was led by a
professional and capable team leader
• Provided better
value for Waikato DHB security expenditure.
Waikato DHB security manager Dean Ria said the decision was a close and difficult one. Allied’s price and a number of other conditions saw it awarded the one-year contract today.
Allied Security will offer:
• Training and
innovation grants for security staff
• Four
Waikato University bursaries valued at $500 each
•
Future proofing technology
• Learning
support.
“Waikato DHB has a clear vision to develop the best security team in the Waikato. We believe providing competitive pay, a work/life balance underpinned by a practical roster and a comprehensive training package with a well defined career path will do just that,” said Mr Ria.
Waikato Security Services’ current contract started on 1 July 2006 and ended on 30 October last year. At the termination of the contract, Waikato DHB completed three separate reviews of security services, extended the contract six months until 20 April 2010 and went to the market.
