Core practitioner registration system
Optimation implements core practitioner registration system for Medical Council
Wellington, New
Zealand:
Wellington-based IT specialist Optimation has
worked closely with the Medical Council to successfully
develop and implement MedSys, a comprehensive medical
practitioner registration and certification system. The
MedSys system plays a critical role in enabling the Medical
Council to fulfil its mandate of ensuring doctors working in
New Zealand are competent and fit to practise, in order to
ensure public health and safety. Practitioner registration,
qualifications, practising certificate renewals, health and
conduct processes, continuing professional development and
education are all tracked and managed through MedSys.
On-going development will also see a growing number of
services provided to practitioners and other stakeholders
via online channels.
“As we continue to develop MedSys and implement further enhancements we expect to see significant improvements in our efficiency and productivity by streamlining and automating many day-to-day business processes. It will also give us confidence that all our processes are compliant and auditable under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act, which governs our business,” says Philip Pigou, Chief Executive of the Medical Council of New Zealand.
The multi-year MedSys project required Optimation to engage deeply at all levels of the Medical Council’s business, learning its policy and processes and getting to understand its strategic and operating environment from the inside out.
“The greatest value Optimation has provided has been to build a strong relationship with us that isn’t just about delivering a software application or a system, but about understanding what we do and supporting our business over the long term. We have been very pleased with the expertise and professionalism Optimation has brought to this development, both at the technical and project management level and in terms of the executive relationship.”
As a result of the MedSys project and working closely with the Medical Council, Optimation has built knowledge and frameworks for interpreting and applying legislation and business rules that can be effectively adapted in other organisations. Optimation can also offer end-to-end online registration capability and a workflow engine that delivers improved productivity and ensure consistent, auditable and compliant outcomes for any organisation that needs to manage a membership of industry or trade professionals.
