Women in Business fundraise for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Women in Business raised $700 on Tuesday 26 October towards the Sweet Louise Charity for women with secondary breast cancer. This event was proudly sponsored by AXA to raise awareness of the disease and to help highlight the importance for women to have financial protection in case life takes a turn for the worst. According to a survey by AXA Life in the UK, women are becoming more successful in business, but they are failing to protect themselves financially, even when they are the main breadwinner. The poll showed that about 8 million women in the UK do not have life insurance, income protection and critical illness cover, and approximately 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives.
The event featured a presentation by Marlene Solomon, a specialist breast care nurse and cancer survivor who delivered an amazingly compassionate and personal story that touched the hearts of everyone who attended.
Local financial advisers Liz Koh of Moneymax and Robyn Putt of Allfinanz were also right behind this event as they are committed to women being aware of how important it is for them to look after their physical and financial health as they age and the real benefits of having trauma cover in-place.
Women in Business Chair, Jane Stevenson
said “the evening was very personal to all those that
attended and we were delighted to be able to donate the full
door charge to the Sweet Louise
Charity”.
