Clinical trial partnership puts NZ on the World

Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited, New Zealand’s largest privately owned Clinical Research organisation, has signed an agreement with the University of Auckland’s Clinical Trials Research Unit. Following the 2010 parliamentary select committee enquiry in to the significant value of clinical trials conducted in New Zealand, two of New Zealand’s leading Clinical Trial organisations are leading the way in promoting New Zealand as a global center of excellence.
New Zealand and Australia are at the forefront of clinical trials, and trials from Phase I (First in Human) – Phase IV are conducted very successfully for US & European clients. Pharmaceutical Solutions has for the past 11 years been running Phase I-IV trials across New Zealand and Australia.
CTRU Director, Associate Professor Chris Bullen says "CTRU has an international reputation for conducting high-quality multicentre trials underpinned by our innovative data management services. We are excited that the partnership with Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited makes this capability more visible to prospective clients, and collectively will enable both organisations to offer an expanded range of trials services." CTRU are ISO 9001certified, and all research is in accordance with GCP, GCRP and FDA guidelines.
A major challenge in developing new therapies and medical devices requires that there is a greater reliance that the data will be robust, and accepted by FDA and other authorities. The stakes in human terms are significant, and so too are the business aspects. The top 10 Pharmaceutical companies generated US$ 96.6 billion dollars in post tax profit last financial year.
“Through our clients we are seeing a greater demand for world class data management services” says Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited, CEO, Michael Vukcevic, “and through our relationship with CTRU, we are now delivering web-based data management solutions which align with US FDA regulations and requirements in New Zealand and Australia”.
Dr Edward Watson, Medical Advisor for Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited, ”This partnership between CTRU and Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited is an important step for New Zealand. This will demonstrate that we can deliver an integrated world class service of clinical trial management for overseas and domestic clients, specifically those health research organisations that require high quality, effective management and monitoring of their clinical trials”.
