April Falls Day
April Falls Day
Friday 1 April is April Falls/ April No Falls Day and throughout Australia, states and territories are committed to preventing and reducing falls affecting vulnerable and older people.
According to Dr Steven Skov from the NT Centre for Disease Control one in three over 65 year olds will experience a fall with 30% of this group needing medical attention.
Tunstall Healthcare is the world’s leading provider of telehealthcare and provides a 24 hour response centre that takes calls from people in need and organises the appropriate assistance for them.
Collie is in her 90s and after getting up in the middle of the night fell over and broke her ankle.
Collie used her Tunstall personal alarm to call Tunstall’s 24 hour response centre where the response centre operator organised the appropriate assistance.
“I don’t know how long I would have lain there if I didn’t have the alarm,” Collie said.
“I was so scared but thanks to the operator’s calming voice she comforted me until the ambulance arrived”.
For people at high risk of falls, Tunstall also offers a detector that detects if the wearer falls, automatically alerting Tunstall’s response centre that the wearer needs assistance.
For 24 hour support this April Falls Day contact Tunstall Healthcare on www.tunstallhealthcare.com.au or call 1300 760 333.
