Health Quality & Safety Commission welcomes appointment
The Health Quality & Safety
Commission is delighted its Chair, Professor Alan Merry, has
been chosen to head the University of Auckland’s School of
Medicine.
Chief Executive Dr Janice Wilson says
Professor Merry will bring significant strengths to his new
role.
“Alan has considerable experience as a practising cardiac anaesthetist and chronic pain specialist, so he understands the reality of providing clinical care,” she says.
“His work on health quality and safety issues, both in New Zealand and internationally, will also be a real asset for the medical school and its students.”
Professor Merry has chaired the Commission since its establishment in November 2010, and will continue in that role.
