Cool comfort from Wormald
Cool comfort from Wormald
Donating funds to purchase two high-tech air mattresses will bring much relief to young National Burn Centre patients.
Wormald specialises in protecting people and property from fire and the company also generously supports National Burn Centre at Middlemore Hospital, Auckland.
Wormald’s latest $7,500 donation will be used to buy two air mattresses specifically designed for children.
The specialised nursing equipment is designed to equally distribute the weight of patients who have compromised skin integrity caused by burns.
Air mattresses reduce the pressure on the body and enhance blood circulation, which helps prevent pressure injuries.
Patients don’t need to be moved or turned as frequently – reducing pain and improving their health outcomes.
National Burn Centre is a 10-bed unit that provides co-ordinated care for patients with burn injuries.
The unit has facilities for newly injured patients as well as those requiring ongoing follow up care.
The service is national centre for more complex burn injured patients from throughout New Zealand and is also a regional unit for burn injured patients from Auckland and Northland.
