CareNZ receive FebFast Funds

Super 15 player and FebFast Ambassador Scott Waldrom handed over giant cheque to CareNZ on behalf of FebFast in Hamilton today.

“FebFast and the New Zealand Drug Foundation are proud to be able to help CareNZ because they are a free service that helps over 2,700 people a year,” FebFast Coordinator Catherine
Milburn said.

“CareNZ is a fitting recipient for FebFast because they help people with alcohol and/or drug abuse problems to change their lives for the better”

The cheque for over $21,000 was presented to CareNZ’s Clincal Team Leader Linda Tiro who said it was fabulous to both participate as a team in Febfast this year and also be named as successful recipients for such a worthwhile cause.

“We hope to further promote the CareNZ schools service within the Waikato schools and communities we work in as well as increasing awareness about alcohol -related harm,” said Ms Tiro.

“Participating in Febfast is an awesome way of highlighting the positive benefits of being alcohol free as well as fundraising to further support young people struggling with alcohol and drug issues and addiction.”

Three other youth charities have received FebFast funding. These are Evolve Youth Services (Wellington), Rainbow Youth (Auckland), and the ADHD Association (national).

2012 is the second year the Drug Foundation has run FebFast in New Zealand. In 2011 and 2012 there were over 700 participants with over $107,000 raised each year.

Come along to the presentation ceremony today:
