Getting Glamorous for Gynae

New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation gala dinner and charity auction

The New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation (NZGCF) is hosting an inaugural gala dinner and charity auction “Getting Glamorous for Gynae” at The Hilton on Thursday, 26 July and is encouraging New Zealanders to get glam and show their support.

“More than one million women around the world are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every year. In New Zealand alone, one woman dies every day from one of these cancers,” says Michelle Quirk, General Manager of NZGCF. “We are working hard to change these outcomes by raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of these cancers. Funds raised from this event will help support our mission to save the lives of more New Zealand women.”

ONE News presenter Wendy Petrie will MC the evening of fabulous food, drink and entertainment, and Shortland Street actress Beth Allen will be there in her role as NZGCF ambassador. Attendees will be treated to mouth-watering cocktails and canapés on arrival, a delicious three-course dinner with matching wines, live entertainment and the opportunity to bid on a number of once-in-a-lifetime experiences in the live auction.

Items on auction include morning or afternoon tea with Prime Minister John Key, a four-course meal for eight guests at Soul Bar & Bistro, a signed All Blacks jersey, VIP tickets to the Silver Ferns, a BMW driving experience, an afternoon on the set of Shortland Street, an afternoon behind the scenes of SkySport and a mountaineering pickaxe signed by the late Sir Edmund Hillary. There are also more than 40 items up for grabs in a silent auction.

“Almost 1,000 New Zealand women will be diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer this year and you would be hard pushed to find someone who has not been affected either directly or indirectly by these cancers,” says Michelle. “Coming along to the gala dinner and charity auction is a great way of showing support for those affected and for our work in the community.”

NZGCF would also like to acknowledge our event sponsors, Knox Investment Partners and Jerry Clayton BMW, for their support of this gala event, as well as event supporters Barfoot and Thompson, Saint Clair, Soirée and VnC Cocktails.

Tickets cost $195 per guest or $1,950 per table of ten (GST inclusive). Tickets can be purchased via NZGCF’s website at www.nzgcf.org.nz.
