Sharing in Diverse City
Sharing in Diverse City.
Changing Minds are changing the way that Aucklanders view themselves and others in a new awareness campaign being released on Facebook as part of Mental Health Awareness Week (8-14 October). A series of unique photographs will be revealed each day of the week, each with a distinctive message to fellow Aucklanders about well-being, resilience, and creativity.
The not-for-profit organisation aren’t giving away much about whom the subjects of the photographs will be, but they will include: an actor, a musician, a social change consultant, and a kaumatua.
The photographer, Jenna Todd, has captured the essence and beauty of each of the subjects. They were then asked to scrawl in their own handwriting a message of well-being to their fellow Aucklanders. “Each of us has our own unique way of viewing the world and we also have our own ways of coping,” says Tina Helm, manager. “This diversity comes through in every aspect, including the faces, the places, the handwriting, and the personal message.”
All of those who help share the images on Facebook will go in a draw to win a prize of choice. Not only will people be doing a good thing for their community by raising awareness of mental health and well-being, but they will have an additional incentive of winning something for themselves. Information to be posted daily on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/changingminds.nz
