The Prostate Cancer Foundation encourages all men over 40 to have an annual prostate check. We recommend all men from the age of 50 should consider being checked annually for prostate cancer by both PSA blood test and digital rectal examination (DRE).

All funds raised from Blue September go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand, a registered charity which receives no government funding. Part of the foundation’s role involves supporting research, for instance the development of a new software tool to aid General Practitioners assisting male patients.

All funds raised in New Zealand stay in New Zealand. Donations are used in New Zealand for:
·                     Providing support via the 0800 4 PROSTATE helpline
·                     Educating the public about prostate and testicular cancer
·                     Funding medical research of prostate and testicular cancer

Blue September 2013 is proudly supported by PlaceMakers, SKYCITY, M2, The Coffee Club, Vintage Harvest and Barkers.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ exists to raise awareness about prostate cancer, promote early detection and provide information and support to men diagnosed with the disease. It receives no government funding and relies heavily on volunteer support. PCFNZ actively funds prostate cancer research in New Zealand and runs a free public helpline - 0800 4 PROSTATE (0800 477 678). www.prostate.org.nz
